No I am not talking about absinthe, I am talking about the emerald - May's birthstone. As a tribute to all of you May Babies out there I have decided to dedicate this post to looking at emeralds both in actual jewelry and in the form its enchanting hues. The emerald is without a doubt my absolute favourite stone, the dark blue sapphire is a close second, probably because I love the rich and glamorous colours in antique jewelry. Just my luck that my birthday is the 3rd of July. Ruby is my third favourite but I still envy my mother (born on the 3rd of May). Personal preferences aside, I think that the deep yet refreshing tone of emerald's green is probably best worn in Autumn or Winter due to its incredible richness (so right now it's yay for the Southern Hemisphere!). I personally think that getting your hands on a pair of good quality, simple emerald pumps would be a wise investment, a scarf, a classic coat; the possibilities are endless. Warning: too much green is not a good thing. Please do not humiliate yourself by leaving your building looking like the Grinch who stole Christmas; it is a fashion statement but not necessarily a pleasant one. Okay I think I've rambled on about this colour quite enough so do what the world is daily forcing down our throats: Go Green!
