Pull Up Your Socks

Yes, it's a tad "school girl" but that only depends on how preppy your outfit is. For example: don't go wearing your socks pulled up with a pleated skirt(you know the ones). However, if paired with the right elements the outcome is a quirky little ensemble that shows you aren't afraid to be different. I am constantly trying to be my own stylist and wear what I like and not what the chain stores like and so far my friends and family all readily approve. So I hope you trust me enough to take my advice and go against the grain. In moderation of course.

The Girl

Karmen Pedaru has been in the modelling industry since about 2005 but lately she's been the talk of the town and the one to sign for all the big labels. Her Michael Kors ad campaigns with Simon Nessman are amazing; you feel as if you're watching a scene in a film playing out before you-the movement is phenomenal. The latest Chloé Summer/Spring adverts with those simple, concertina pleats and billowng cape-like dresses are beautiful. She is also in the Gucci ad campaign (yet another one: no suprise) that focusses on dark eyes, black, gold and the ever popular androgynous look with short hair and strong hard features. We can expect a lot more from this daring darling, I'm sure of it.

Letters of Love

Giant leather envelopes. It may sound far-fetched or slightly too odd but in reality I think that they are the perfect accesory to lift your outfit from pretty good to outstanding. My favourite are the brightly coloured or patterned ones (by the way they don't have to be leather) because it becomes such a eye-catching and statement making piece that is bound to turn the heads of ordinary onlookers and fashion lovers alike. Another plus, if they're colourful, is that they have the uncanny ability of combining two of my favourite aspects of style: sophistication and fun. Yes, it is contradictory but is complimentory not the more appropriate word to use? Methinks.

Chloé: Fall/Winter 2012/13

When I first caught a glimpse of Chloé's latest  fall winter collection while browsing through vogue.co.uk I almost fainted. It is incredible! The naturalistic colours (save the bold deep red) and focus on textures rather than over thought designs were exactly what I needed to see in order to have a break from the hectic Alexander McQueen shows and likes thereof. The dream maker who designed the collection; British-born Clare Waight Keller (and she has my name - go figure) has worked for some of the biggest names in the business including Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Tom Ford, Gucci and Scotland's Pringle before moving her family to Paris becoming the new Creative Director of Chloé. I have no doubt that she knows exactly what she is doing and these timeless and beautifully tailored pieces confirm my suspicions. N.B. Keep a look out for the cleverly tricking pants that look like skirts - they're elasticated at the hem).
