Polaroid is an online magazine with a Fashion section(Pins & Needles) and a photography section(Sticky Lense) and the two sections usually tie in with each other. I try and remember to do a monthly cover that tells you what will be in store for you to check out. In case you're wondering none of the pictures I take are from a Polaroid camera, I don't have the time and money to go through that admin, but the name was cool so I used it anyway.

Avatars on the Runway
The Fendi fall winter 2013 collection was intriguing to say the least. With the Avatar-esque hair and make-up, juxtaposed with the neutral hues and materials, I was pleasantly surprised that it actually went well together and I found myself entranced not just by the individual looks but by the show's overall atmosphere. Karl Lagerfeld's design aesthetic was clearly evident in the clothes. Everything in the line seemed to contradict itself and it worked. The natural textures (furs, skins, silks) went brilliantly with the sharp and oddly angled architectural hemlines and stitching. Take a look for yourself; does it clash or seamlessly combine?

Maiyet - Ready to Wear - Fall Winter - 2012/13
It seems like just the other day we were all ogling over the latest summer trends; the ever popular ice-cream themed ad campaign by Louis Vuitton was on the back of every Elle, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Luckily the time has flown by allowing not too much of a dry period and it is presently all about winter 2012/13. A line that caught my eye was the conspicuous Maiyet founded by South African Human Rights Activist Paul Van Zyl who worked under Archbishop Desmond Tutu with the post-Apartheid Truth Commission. The clothes are designed by Gabriella Zanzani I can definitely say my hat goes off to her. The line was simple but the expert layering created an intricacy that made you appreciate the craftsmanship of the garments - not an easy thing to do. My only personal critique would be that of the slightly unflattering hipster skirts that almost resembled tennis attire. The looks had varied inspirations including a slight Victorian flare which I loved. Overall the feel was dark and sophisticated. The mysterious hats, coats and dark colours made you want to be those models purely because it seemed like they knew something you didn't. One thing I know for sure is that the show was undeniably a success (in my opinion anyways).

A Delicious Cocktail
It's true; Dr Martens and Liberty have created a delicious cocktail by combining the edgy tomboyish boots with some pretty floral prints to soften the blow. Liberty's classic patterns are just the thing to go with Dr Martens - the well known and loved staple for combat boots. Because both the brands are well established and recognised by many generations they suit each other surprisingly well considering their extreme contrast with one another. The vintage effect is perfect and makes me wonder what the next unlikely collaboration in fashion brands will be. In the mean time take a look; does this cocktail tickle your fashion-buds?

Thick as Blood
A colour that has been catching my eye a lot lately is burgundy, bordeux or oxblood. Its versatility is astounding; you can wear it slightly bohemian or even sultry although there's nothing slight about sex appeal. If I were to recommend an item in this colour, depending on whether you are a socialiser or more layed back, it would be trousers (for the casuals) or a simple cocktail dress. An absolute must is a leather item in this hue; be it a pair of brogue's or a bag. There isn't much to explain about this colour so I won't ramble on but I assure you it is deffinitely worth wearing.
