Wearable Icecream

Louis Vuitton spring/summer 2012
The latest Louis Vuitton summer 2012 collection is without a doubt a winner. The glacial hues paired with the structured almost pop-art lace creates the sense of being in a Winter Wonderworld combined with the perfect amount of Candyland. It gives you the feeling of childlike delight but the classic designs keep it sophisticated and striking; all because it's so unlike anything we've seen on the runways. Some of the suit skirts had me doing a double take; they were shaped for an empire waist but instead were sitting on the hips (or even lower). They took some getting used to but some of those models were able to pull it off brilliantly. The main reason why I love this collection is because it is so different that it refreshes and almost challenges your style senses. Take a look and decide if your senses are needing a bit of sharpening.

Pixie Dust

Question; how do you stand out in a crowd of equally pretty girls? Have the balls to pull off a pixie cut hairstyle and you've got yourself a winner. These days everyone has shoulder length hair or longer and although it safely suits the masses it is also incredibly boring. Unless you have an interesting texture you most likely wouldn't be able to be told apart soley by the back of your head from the majority of the female population. I'm definitely not advising every second girl to go and chop off their locks because, let's be honest, it only looks good on a select few and that's what makes the pixie so refreshing. When I see someone rocking a pixie cut it makes me want to be her purely because she just looks cool. Yes, it is a shallow excuse but if we're all being honest, first impressions are a big part of life and I know it's not everything but it's certainly something. So, ask yourself; are you willing to take a risk? Come on, it'll grow back, I promise.

Everything in Leather

When you think of leather, you think of shoes, bags and belts. If someone says leather tops however, you immediately create a picture in your head of a kinky dark haired girl with a whip in one hand and shaving cream in the other. Fashion designers have decided to take a bold step and use leather in tops, skirts, dresses and even trousers and the look that is coming out of all this is modern chic and occasionally vintage. The trick is to keep the items very clean and simple; structured cuts and not too many details makes the leather talk for itself and if it's executed correctly it will turn you green with envy and have you jumping out of your seat to get a closer look... or touch.

Little Pick-Me-Ups

Ah the platform, the shoe that epitemises the era of flared trousers and everything disco. Thankfully the fashion world has managed to make the platform a little bit more classy and the new take on platforms - "the flatform" - is one of my favourite creations walking the runway. Provided the design is not too much on the grannyish side, pair these feet friends with a simple midi or maxi skirt (I personally love the half sheer ones), a loose fitting blouse and some eccentric accessories and you've got yourself an outfit that I would most definitely kill for.  My personal favourites are the flatform brogues because they have less risk of being too distasteful and they combine classic vintage with modern fun. My advice to you is to step up and out (excuse the punny cliché) and go buy yourself a pair of these amazing footie fettishes and hit the streets with a bold statement.
